The catch is a 4K context window, which is small. SpicyChat’s help article on why characters forget works it out: with a 1,000-token character and messages of about 150 tokens, a free chat keeps roughly 20 recent messages in view. If you’re doing long narrative roleplay, this gets painful fast.

The queue is the other issue. SpicyChat’s queue help article says queues apply to free accounts during periods of heavy traffic, and that most of the time there is no queue at all.

Subscribing removes the queue, and I’m All In adds priority generation, which puts your replies at the front of the line.

For casual browsing, a queue is fine. When one hits in the middle of an active roleplay, it breaks the immersion completely.

The top tier at $29.95 per month lifts the context to 32K on the eight models that support it, including DeepSeek V4 Pro, Glam 5.1 and Qwen Plus Character (most others stop at 16K), and adds text-to-speech and priority generation. SpicyChat’s 32K announcement estimates that keeps around 200 earlier messages in view, against about 100 at 16K.

If you’re running long, immersive sessions and want the character’s voice read aloud, that’s the tier for it. For most people, True Supporter is the ceiling of what makes sense to pay.

CrushOn AI is the better option if narrative depth matters more to you than variety. Even its free plan runs on 8K of memory, double SpicyChat’s free 4K, and the $5.99 Standard plan opens 16K models, while SpicyChat stays at 8K or below until the $29.95 tier.

The tradeoff is that CrushOn’s image generation is weaker than Candy AI’s, and the character library doesn’t match SpicyChat’s volume.

The free tier is genuinely more usable than competitors. A signed-in account can chat until a 2,000-message daily limit, while Candy’s free tier ends after 5 messages and CrushOn gives free users 100 message credits a month.

The persona builder is also a step ahead of what CrushOn and Candy AI offer in terms of self-customization depth. If building the version of yourself the AI talks to is important to you, SpicyChat gives you the most control over that.

True Supporter’s model selection stands out too. Being able to swap between 13 underlying models, from 8B up to Qwen3 235B, is unusual.

SpicyChat’s own token and context documentation sets the ceiling on that customization, capping the window at 4,096 tokens on free and Get A Taste, 8,192 on True Supporter and up to 32,768 on I’m All In, depending on the model.

Who Should Actually Use SpicyChat

SpicyChat is for people who want to explore a large catalog of characters on the free tier, or who have a specific persona setup in mind and want to configure exactly how the AI sees them.
