Unfiltered AI Chat With Truly Unlimited Free Messages

Most “no filter AI chat” lists skip the daily message limit, which is the number that decides whether you can actually use the platform.

Almost every platform advertising “no filter”, “no restrictions” or “unfiltered” chat meters its free tier somehow, with a daily cap, a monthly credit balance or a one-time trial. Hit the meter and the conversation stops mid-scene or drops to a weaker model, and you either pay up or wait for the reset.

This article cuts the noise. It is specifically about unfiltered AI chat platforms with genuinely unlimited messages, ranked honestly, with the per-platform free-tier math laid out where the marketing pages don’t put it.

Of the 15 platforms in the table below, two allow unfiltered chat on a free account with no message cap, and a third comes close at 2,000 messages a day. Character AI and Replika skip the cap too, but Character AI’s filter has no off switch and Replika blocks unfiltered roleplay on new accounts. Most of the rest stop free users between 5 messages total and a small monthly credit balance.

The short version: if your only goal is unlimited free messages, JanitorLLM on Janitor AI and Perchance AI Character Chat are the two honest picks, and neither costs anything. SpicyChat’s free account is the close third, and all three are covered below, along with the reason most “unlimited” lists get this wrong.

If you would rather pay for polish once you know this is something you will use regularly, Candy AI is the most refined paid pick. CrushOn AI is the most usable of the capped platforms for unfiltered roleplay if you want stronger writing and a choice of models on a recurring credit allowance.

Why message caps are the real friction, not the filter

The conversation around unfiltered chat focuses obsessively on the filter itself: what words are blocked, what scenarios are allowed, how creative the model is willing to be.

The hidden friction sits one layer below. Even when the filter behaves, the free allowance on most of these platforms runs out after somewhere between 5 and 70 messages, so a 90-minute conversation routinely runs into a wall.

Inference cost is the reason. Roleplay turns are token-heavy, and although per-token model prices have fallen sharply since 2023 per a16z’s analysis of LLM inference pricing, serving long-form chat to free users at volume still costs real money. Chai’s founder gave exactly that reason in September 2026 when Chai moved free users onto pieces, writing that GPU prices had doubled that year and the unlimited model was “no longer sustainable”.

The platforms most worth your time are the ones where neither the filter nor the cap interrupts you. In October 2026 only two of the 15 below qualify outright, with a third close behind.

Message-cap math by platform (2026)

Below is the actual cap on the free tier of every platform commonly listed in the “unfiltered AI chat” space. Every row was re-checked in late September or October 2026 against the platform’s own pricing page, plan data, help center, founder posts or support replies, most of them on October 17.

PlatformFree-tier message capPaid removes cap?
JanitorLLM (on Janitor AI)None. Janitor lists “unlimited chats” with a context limit of about 9k tokensNo cap to remove; janitor+ ($12.99 a month) sells “5x more context” and the JLLM+ model
Perchance AI Character ChatNone, and no account neededNo paid tier
SpicyChat (signed-in free account)2,000 messages a day, which SpicyChat calls an anti-spam limit; guests get about 100 before a sign-in promptPartly. Get a Taste ($5.95) shares the 2,000 limit; True Supporter ($19.95) and I’m All In ($29.95) raise it to 5,000 a day
Crushon AI100 message credits a month, then a slower free model with limited memoryPartly. Paid plans raise the credit allowance, from 2,000 a month at $5.99; uncapped chat on its Pro models is a separate Chat Package add-on
Character AINone. Character AI says unlimited messaging stays on every plan, including freeNot needed for messages; c.ai+ removes ads and slow mode, and the filter stays on for every plan
Sakura.fmA daily message limit, number not publishedYes, Diamond ($19 a month) has no daily message limit
Candy AI5 messages total, not per dayYes, paid plans include unlimited text chat
Nectar AI15 messages/day on the free tierPartly. Premium ($9.99) gives 6,000 a month; only Ultimate ($34.99) is unlimited
Janitor AI on OpenRouter free50 requests/day across all free modelsPartly. Buying 10 USD of credits raises it to 1,000/day
Replika freeUnlimited text chat with one companionNot needed for text; paid plans add relationship modes and calls
ChaiEvery message costs a piece; the daily check-in gives 70 pieces and each rewarded ad 5 moreYes, Chai says subscriptions keep unlimited messages (Premium $13.99, Ultra $29.99)
DreamGF10 messages a day through its daily claim bonus, rising by one a day to 50 by day 40Paid memberships raise it, but DreamGF’s own pricing pages disagree on what they cost
Kupid AI15 messages, plus 50 more once you verify your email (one time, not daily)Yes, through Pro or Ultra, from $12.99 a week
SoulkynNot publishedPremium advertises no daily, weekly or monthly limits
CharStar AIOffline: charstar.ai has returned a 404 error since September 2025Not applicable

Only the top two rows combine no free message cap with unfiltered chat, and SpicyChat’s ceiling of 2,000 a day sits far above what one long session uses. Janitor’s figure comes from its subscription FAQ, the OpenRouter row from OpenRouter’s rate-limit docs, and the Sakura row from Sakura’s own plan page.

Crushon is the clearest case of how slippery this pricing has become. Independent 2026 write-ups still quote an unlimited Deluxe plan, but Crushon’s own plan data shows Deluxe offline since August 20, 2025. Every membership on sale now runs on monthly message credits, from 100 free up to 125,000 on the $199.99 Imperial plan.

Uncapped chat on Crushon’s stronger Pro models now comes only as a Chat Package add-on, which needs an active membership and stops those messages from using credits. Its pricing page also lists “Unlimited access to Free Models” for free accounts.

When the credits run out, Crushon’s interface says you are “Now using the free model with limited memory and speed”, so the chat continues on a weaker model instead of stopping. That keeps a scene alive, but on a model Crushon itself calls limited, which is why Crushon is not counted among the uncapped picks.

Two newer sites, Character Tavern and Dippy AI, also advertise unlimited free messages on their home pages. We have not tested either, so neither is ranked here.

Filters and message caps are two different questions, and this table answers only one of them. Character AI and Replika are here on cap math alone, since neither permits unfiltered roleplay on a new account. Character AI applies its moderation with no user switch, so the practical fix there is moving to a different platform.

Truly free vs trial-free vs freemium, the three patterns

Most platforms use one of three pricing patterns dressed up in marketing language that obscures the difference.

Truly free means messages are unlimited and the platform’s revenue model doesn’t depend on you converting. JanitorLLM and Perchance AI Character Chat are the cleanest examples, since Janitor’s FAQ promises to “always keep a free option available for everyone” and Perchance sells no plan at all.

Trial-free means the free tier exists to demonstrate value before converting you. Candy AI, Crushon, Nectar, DreamGF, and most newer companion AIs use this pattern. The cap is the conversion lever, and Candy runs the strictest one in this group at 5 messages across all characters before the paywall lands.

Freemium means the free tier permanently exists but is intentionally constrained on quality features (memory, voice, image gen) while message count is unlimited or capped far above normal use. Character AI fits this pattern: its September 28, 2026 plan post says “Unlimited messaging stays on every tier”, while free accounts still get ads and slow mode at busy times.

SpicyChat sits here too. Its free account allows 2,000 messages a day, but SpicyChat’s plans article gives free accounts 4,096 tokens of memory and caps each reply at 180 tokens.

Which free AI chats really have no message limit?

Two platforms give free users unfiltered chat with no message cap at all, JanitorLLM on Janitor AI and Perchance AI Character Chat, and SpicyChat’s free account comes close at 2,000 a day.

  1. JanitorLLM on janitorai.com, Janitor’s in-house model, with unfiltered bots allowed when they are tagged Limitless
  2. Perchance AI Character Chat, free with no account, saved in your own browser
  3. SpicyChat on a free account, capped at 2,000 messages a day

Two platforms that used to sit on this list no longer qualify. Sakura.fm’s own plan page now shows a daily message limit for free users, with extra free messages through its Sage program on Discord. Paid plans from the $19-a-month Diamond tier up have no daily limit.

CharStar AI has gone dark. Its site, charstar.ai, has returned a 404 error in every Wayback Machine capture since September 29, 2025, so it is out of the picks.

1. JanitorLLM on Janitor AI

JanitorLLM, which Janitor shortens to JLLM, runs on Janitor’s own servers. It is the model option that needs no API key, and Janitor’s FAQ lists the free tier as “unlimited chats with millions of bots” with a context limit of around 9k tokens.

Message count is uncapped. The friction is slowdowns and error messages at busy times, and Janitor’s own changelog logs JLLM slowness and response errors as they happen and get fixed.

The trade-off is content rules. Unfiltered bots have to be tagged Limitless, Janitor’s terms exclude some specific themes, and users in Australia, Brazil and the UK pass a one-time age check before chatting. Janitor added janitor+ at $12.99 a month in June 2026, and its FAQ sells it on “5x more context for better memory” and the JLLM+ model rather than on more messages.

2. Perchance AI Character Chat

Perchance AI Character Chat is a free page at perchance.org that needs no account, and its own description promises “No message limits, no filter.” It keeps every character and chat in your browser’s storage, so nothing follows you to another device unless you export it.

Memory is the trade-off. Long-term memory ships switched off, and retrieved memories plus lorebook entries share about 450 tokens of a 6,000-token budget, so turn memory on before a long story.

It is the easiest test bed on this list, because there is nothing to sign up for. Shared character files go through a moderation check on upload, so a character whose age is ambiguous can be refused when you try to share it.

3. SpicyChat on a free account

SpicyChat’s free tier is far roomier than most lists claim. SpicyChat’s support account spelled out the limits on October 2, 2026: about 100 messages for guests, 2,000 a day for signed-in free accounts, and 5,000 a day on the top two paid plans.

Hitting the ceiling brings up an in-app notice, “You’ve hit your 2,000 daily message limit”, shown in a screenshot a user posted on October 1, 2026. SpicyChat’s support account replied in that thread that the anti-spam limit is “quite a feat to reach” and refreshes the next day.

Free accounts also wait in a queue when traffic is heavy. Memory is the bigger cost, at 4,096 tokens with replies capped at 180 tokens, so long scenes lose early details sooner than they would on the paid tiers.

Honest verdict on most “no filter unlimited” lists

If you search “unfiltered AI chat unlimited messages free,” you will find lists of 10, 15, or 25 platforms. Most are wrong.

The 15 platforms in the message-cap table all advertise themselves at some point as “unlimited” or “free.” Only two deliver unlimited free chat without a content ban, and SpicyChat’s free account comes close.

The rest are capped or credit-metered free tiers (Crushon, Candy, Nectar, DreamGF, Kupid, Sakura, Chai), freemium apps that skip the cap but keep their filters on (Character AI, Replika), or proxy-dependent (Janitor on OpenRouter). Soulkyn publishes no free allowance, and CharStar is offline.

If you want one platform to lean on for unlimited free roleplay, JanitorLLM and Perchance are the two real options. Pick Janitor for its huge character library, or Perchance if you want to start without an account.

If you will trade unlimited-free for a better experience

Most readers who land here eventually hit the same wall: the uncapped free options save money at the cost of memory and polish. JanitorLLM works inside a context of about 9k tokens and Perchance keeps its memory in one browser, so long stories start to slip. If you are willing to trade a strictly unlimited free tier for more depth, two options give you far more to work with.

If you care more about polish than price, Candy AI is the most refined of the paid options, with voice replies, image generation, and stronger long-term memory. Its free tier stops at 5 messages (the Candy AI review covers the real monthly cost), so treat it as the upgrade pick once you know unfiltered roleplay is something you will use regularly.

On a tighter budget, CrushOn AI has the most usable free tier of the capped platforms for unfiltered roleplay. You get 100 message credits a month and then a slower free model instead of a hard paywall, plus a large community character library and model switching. That mix tends to satisfy people who found the truly free tools too limited.

Two more are worth a look if memory matters more to you than message count. Nectar AI is built around memory: its free tier holds 15 messages in memory, and paid plans run from 8K tokens on Premium ($9.99) to 64K on Ultimate ($34.99). SpicyChat, the third pick above, doubles its memory to 8,192 tokens on the $19.95 True Supporter plan and adds its advanced models.

Neither replaces JanitorLLM or Perchance if your only goal is unlimited free messages. They are the better call when memory and reliability matter more to you than paying nothing.

Free tier without account creation

A smaller subset of users want unfiltered chat with zero signup at all. This is a much harder bar.

Of the three picks, only Perchance AI Character Chat works with no account at all, because it stores everything in your browser. JanitorLLM needs a free Janitor account, and SpicyChat lets guests send about 100 messages before asking you to sign in.

If “no account” is your hard requirement, Perchance is the pick, and SpicyChat’s guest allowance is enough for a test run. Our guide to unfiltered AI chat with no sign up works through the no-account options in more detail.

The no-account question and the age-check question have different answers. Most platforms here that allow unfiltered chat put it behind an age confirmation, and in many places that is still a self-declared date of birth. Perchance’s only check is a warning to click cancel if you are under 18, shown when you open a link to a shared character that may talk about sensitive themes.

Some now check harder. Crushon verifies by ID, face scan or a $0.99 card payment, and Janitor runs a one-time age check for users in Australia, Brazil and the UK. SpicyChat keeps its unfiltered content locked until a video selfie or ID check in the UK, France, Italy, Australia and 26 US states.

What happens when you hit the cap on capped platforms

For the capped platforms, the cap-hit experience varies and matters.

Candy, Nectar, and DreamGF all show an upgrade prompt at the cap. Nectar and DreamGF hand you a fresh daily allowance the next day.

Candy publishes 5 messages across all characters and states no reset anywhere in its help center, so plan on subscribing rather than waiting for a refill. Crushon behaves differently again: its 100 credits are monthly, and once they run out the chat drops to a slower free model with limited memory instead of stopping.

Replika has no message cap on its free tier, so the wall there is features. Relationship modes, voice calls and the AR mode sit behind the paid plan.

Chai now charges a piece per message. Its founder raised the daily check-in to 70 pieces in October 2026, and each rewarded ad adds 5 more. A free day therefore lasts about 70 messages plus 5 per ad (our guide to how Chai pieces work covers the rest).

OpenRouter on Janitor returns the 429 errors covered in our 429 deep dive. The cap-hit experience there is more confusing because the error wording overlaps with other failure modes.

Example scenario, hitting the cap mid-session

Example scenario: You start a 90-minute roleplay session on Nectar AI’s free tier at 8:00 PM local. Fifteen messages in, the day’s allowance is gone, and the scene stops until tomorrow unless you subscribe.

Run the same session on Crushon AI’s free tier and the month’s 100 credits carry you further. Once they are spent, the chat switches to the slower free model with limited memory, so the character may start losing track of the setup.

On JanitorLLM or Perchance, the same 90-minute scene runs end to end with no cap interruption. A signed-in SpicyChat account gets there too, since one session rarely comes near 2,000 messages.

How this article differs from our broader Character AI alternatives coverage

This piece is specifically about unfiltered AI chat platforms that don’t cap messages. It does not cover the full Character AI alternatives field; for that, see our piece on alternative websites without filters or the main Character AI alternatives guide.

The cuts are different. The broader piece is “alternatives to Character AI”; this one is “platforms where the free tier message cap doesn’t stop the session.”

If your priority is message-cap freedom specifically, this page is the right read. If you want a wider field of options, the broader guide is.
