What’s Changed: Perchance AI is safe for an adult’s privacy. Your chats and images are stored in your own browser unless you save, share or heart them, and its ads cannot read what you type. It is not safe for kids: its terms, last updated July 18, 2026, set the minimum age at 18, and no page on the site verifies it.
Is Perchance AI safe? For your data, it does better than most free AI sites, and its privacy design is the part of Perchance I respect most.
For a child, the answer is no, and Perchance’s own rules say so.
What is Perchance: A free website where anyone can build and share generators, including AI chat and image tools that need no account and no payment.
Perchance even has a page called Safer AI Chat, and the name suggests a filtered version for younger users. That page calls itself an “AI roleplay page with moderated comments,” and its own description says the AI “has no filter, except for illegal content.” The moderation covers the chatroom beside the bot, so the safety label belongs to the comments.
This guide covers what leaves your browser, what Perchance logs, how to spot the copycat sites, what happens to anything you share, and what parents can do.
The short version: adults can use it safely with five habits, and kids should not use it at all.

Is Perchance AI Safe for Your Privacy?
Perchance AI is safe for your privacy if you treat it like any public website.
Its chat and image tools keep none of your prompts or results on its servers unless you save, share or heart something, and the ads sit behind a wall that cannot read what you type.

Your prompts do leave your device. Every message and image request goes to Perchance’s generation servers, text-generation.perchance.org and image-generation.perchance.org, which run the model and send the result back.
Perchance’s privacy policy says the AI text and image plugins do not store that data on the server.
What stays local is your history. Characters, threads and messages live in your browser’s own database, so clearing site data deletes them for good. That is the trade I like least, because one cache clear can wipe months of roleplay.
Adults who want their chat history kept in an account they can open on any device usually move to a dedicated companion app such as Candy AI.
The cost of that convenience is that your conversations then sit on that company’s servers instead of in your browser.
| What you do on Perchance | Where it ends up | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Type a chat message or image prompt | Sent to Perchance’s generation servers, not stored there | The servers, only while generating |
| Keep chat history and characters | Your browser’s local database | Only you, on that browser |
| Generate on the main image generator | A local gallery on your device | Only you, until the cache is cleared |
| Press the heart on an image | Perchance’s public gallery | Anyone browsing the gallery |
| Share a chat or character link | Uploaded to user.uploads.dev after a moderation check | Anyone with the link |
| Visit any page | Server logs of your IP, browser and pages | Perchance, for abuse checks and statistics |
Does Perchance AI Track You?
Perchance logs the basics of every visit, and the words you type stay out of those logs.
Its servers record your IP address, browser, operating system and the pages you view, which it says it uses to catch abuse and count traffic.
What is a sandboxed iframe: A page embedded inside another page, with a browser-enforced wall so scripts on one side cannot read the other side.
The generator itself runs inside a sandboxed iframe, while ads and Google Analytics load outside it. The privacy policy says this wall keeps ad scripts away from your text and images, and it admits the cost: first page loads take “about twice as long.”
Logging in changes nothing here, since the policy says an account “does not associate your user account with your AI generation requests.”
The policy’s California section says personal information collected through forms, web analytics and ads may be sold “to deliver ads tailored to the user’s interests,” with an opt-out for California residents.
I treat that as ordinary ad-network boilerplate about visit data, because the sandbox keeps your chats out of the ad scripts’ reach.
Is Perchance AI Legit?
Perchance AI is legit when you are on perchance.org.
It is a free, ad-funded site run by an independent developer, it asks for no card, and it needs no download. The risk is the copycat domains that borrow its name.

As of October 2026, three lookalike domains use the name, and none of them is the real site:
- perchance-ai.net is an AI tools directory that borrows the name.
- perchanceai.art runs its own image and video generator and says on its homepage that it “is not affiliated with Perchance.org.”
- perchance.ai has no generators on it at all and forwards visitors to a parked redirect page, a placeholder with nothing on it.
The real tools run in your browser at perchance.org, and a generator page can be added to a phone’s home screen from there. Treat any app-store listing that uses the Perchance name as a third party.
My one fixed rule here is to type perchance.org myself instead of clicking a lookalike result.
How the site pays for its servers without charging anyone is covered in our Perchance AI review, along with what the tools are like to use.
What Happens to the Images and Chats You Make on Perchance?
Perchance keeps your images and chats on your own device until you choose to share them.
The heart button and share links are the two ways your work leaves your browser, and both make it public.
The main image generator keeps a local gallery. Its own notice says the gallery is “stored privately on your device only” and may be deleted if you clear your cache or your device runs low on storage. I export mine from the menu after every long session.
Pressing the heart saves an image to Perchance’s public gallery, where anyone can see it. On the main image generator, that gallery is sorted by trending and hides only images that the crowd votes below a score of -1, so most moderation there happens after people have already seen something.
Sharing a chat or character uploads it to user.uploads.dev, Perchance’s file host, and anyone with the link can open it. Those uploads pass a moderation check that can reject a share as “disallowed_content” when adult themes appear without the characters stated as 18 or older.
Exporting and backing up a long roleplay is covered in our guide to Perchance character chat.
You can use what you make for anything, including commercial work. Perchance’s terms of service say it places no restrictions on AI-generated images or text, asks for no attribution, and claims no copyright.
Quality, styles and settings are in our image generator review.
Is Perchance AI Safe for Kids?
Perchance AI is not safe for kids, and its own terms agree.
The terms say users must be at least 18, yet the chat and image pages open with no account, no age prompt and no parental controls.
Perchance’s terms of service, last updated July 18, 2026, say the service is “intended for users who are at least 18 years old” and that people under 18 are not permitted. The same terms tell parents to use a parental controls app on the child’s device. That tells you the blocking job falls to the parent.
The main AI Character Chat describes itself as having “no message limits, no filter.” The older AI Chat page warns that inappropriate content “may sometimes be produced unprompted,” and anyone can publish a generator on the platform, so adult tools sit a search away from tame ones.
Safer AI Chat does not change that picture. Its instructions tell the AI to ask users whether they are 18 before a sexual scenario, and a chatbot asking a question is no age check, since a 13-year-old can type yes. The page also contradicts itself: one note says the chatbot “is censored and may refuse inappropriate requests,” while its description promises no filter except for illegal content.
Filters on the main tools shift without notice. In an October 20 thread, one person asked whether the image generator had stopped making explicit images, and the replies disagreed, with no word from Perchance either way.
Regulators are watching this category. The FTC opened an inquiry in September 2025 into how seven companies’ companion chatbots affect children and teens. Perchance was not on that list, and its chat tools raise the same questions with fewer guardrails.
My advice to parents is short: block it, then explain why. These steps cover most homes:
- Turn on the parental controls built into the child’s phone, tablet or computer, which is what Perchance’s terms recommend.
- Block perchance.org at the router or with a DNS filter, so every browser on the home network is covered.
- Check the browser history for perchance.org pages, since there is no account to review.
- Talk about what the chat can produce, because a blocked device does not stop a friend’s phone.
How Do You Use Perchance AI Without Exposing Your Data?
Using Perchance AI safely comes down to five habits.
Keep personal details out of prompts, stay on perchance.org, block outside code on community generators, back up your history, and never heart or share anything you want kept private.
These are the habits I keep on any free AI site, in this order:
- Keep real names, addresses, photos of real people and passwords out of every prompt. Perchance’s own privacy policy tells you to treat each page “like it’s a random page on the internet” and never enter private or sensitive data.
- Type perchance.org yourself rather than trusting a lookalike search result.
- Add
?$cspto the end of any community generator’s address. CSP stands for Content Security Policy, a browser rule that limits which servers a page can contact. The custom CSP page explains that it stops the page “from communicating with external servers,” allowing only Perchance’s own servers, its upload hosts and a few public code libraries. - Export your chats, characters and gallery on a schedule, because clearing site data deletes them.
- Leave the heart button and share links alone for anything private, since both publish your work.
Here is what the ?$csp habit looks like in the address bar:
perchance.org/ai-character-chat (the page can contact any server)
perchance.org/ai-character-chat?$csp (the page can contact only Perchance's listed hosts)A story prompt is where people overshare without noticing:
Before: “I’m Jess, 34, a nurse at St Mary’s in Leeds. Write a scene where my ex Tom shows up at my flat on Hyde Park Road.”
After: “A nurse in her thirties in a northern English city. Write a scene where her ex shows up at her flat.”
Treat everything the chatbot says as fiction, too. The AI Chat page puts it in its first warning: “Everything the AI says is made up.”
Perchance’s CSP page names a reputable VPN extension as one of the two simplest privacy steps. If a VPN leaves the page stuck on “Verifying”, the verification fix guide walks through it.
Is There a Safer Alternative to Perchance AI?
The safer alternative depends on who is asking.
For a child, it is an age-rated app with parental controls. For an adult who wants an account, saved history and a written privacy policy, a dedicated companion app fits better.
No adult companion app is a safer choice for a child, and I never point parents toward one. Look for an app rated for your child’s age in the app store, with controls you can lock.
For adults, the choice is Perchance’s local privacy against an app that remembers you everywhere. Candy AI keeps your chats in an account you can open on any device, and it is for adults only.
If you came to Perchance for anime or character-card roleplay, Nectar AI is the closer fit. With either one, your chats live on a company’s servers, so read its privacy policy before you share anything personal.
Quick Takeaways
- Perchance AI is safe for an adult’s privacy, since chats and images stay in your browser unless you save, share or heart them.
- Its servers log your IP, browser and pages, and the ads cannot read what you type.
- It is not safe for kids, because its terms say 18+ and nothing on the site enforces that, Safer AI Chat included.
- Add
?$cspto community generators and keep real names and photos out of every prompt. - Use only perchance.org, since perchance.ai, perchance-ai.net and perchanceai.art are not the real site.
