Clank World Invite Code and How New Users Can Still Get In

What’s Changed: Clank World now requires an invite code from an existing user before anyone can open a new account. The developer announced the rule on October 10, 2026, citing 3,000 signups a day and the strain of finding GPUs for them. Existing accounts sign in as normal, and the only other link on the invite page leads to the official Discord.

A Clank World invite code is now the only way to open a new account on the AI roleplay site. Since October 10, 2026, the sign-up flow opens on a page that asks “Have a code?” and goes no further without one.

The rule came straight from the developer as an @everyone post in the Clank World Discord, a few hours after the site went down with a datacenter power outage.

It is a capacity decision, and that shapes how long it will last and how hard a code will be to find.

I care more about what Clank World has confirmed than about rumours, so everything below ties back to the announcement, the invite page itself, or a source you can open.

You will know who needs a code, how to get one without paying a stranger, what each error message means, and where to chat if you are stuck outside for a while.

Clank World Invite Code and How New Users Can Still Get In

Why Is a Clank World Invite Code Required Now?

A Clank World invite code is required because the developer decided to stop chasing GPUs for a flood of new users.

The announcement says the site was “getting 3,000 signups a day” and that the demand “leaves less time for fixes and improvements.”

Why Clank World switched to invite codes

The full post, shared to r/ClankWorld as a screenshot of the announcement, says all new accounts “will need an invite code from an existing Clank World user to open an account.” It adds that the team wants to “grow at our own pace” instead of facing a “decline in quality due to new users coming in.”

To me this reads as a brake on growth, pulled by a team tired of hunting for GPUs, the graphics chips that run the AI. The free tier already sheds load when servers fill up. Clank World’s free-tier page says free users can be put in “Slow Mode” or moved to a “Fast model” when GPU capacity is overloaded.

Hours before the announcement, a staff post in the Discord blamed a “power outage at the datacenter,” and the outage thread shows bots that would not generate a reply.

For anyone still outside, that leaves two real routes in.

How Do You Get a Clank World Invite Code?

You get a Clank World invite code from someone who already has an account, or through the official Discord that the invite page links to.

The invite page offers no waitlist and no way to buy a code.

Four steps to get a Clank World invite code

If you have nobody to ask and just want a companion chat tonight, Candy AI takes new accounts with no invite gate. Its free tier stops at five messages in total and Premium lifts that to unlimited text messages, so treat the free tier as a test drive.

I’d start with people you already know, because a code from a friend is the only one you can trust not to be spent already. This is the order that wastes the least time:

  1. Ask anyone you know who already uses Clank World to send you a code. The announcement says codes come “from an existing Clank World user.”
  2. Join the official Clank World Discord, the link printed on the invite page, and read the announcements before asking. The invite rule itself was posted there first.
  3. Check r/ClankWorld for an official post from the team about invites, and ignore direct messages from strangers offering codes.
  4. Open the Clank World invite page, type the code, and tap Verify Code.
  5. Pick Discord, Google or Apple on the next screen, using an account you plan to keep.

The invite page also reads a code from its own web address and fills the box for you, so an invite can arrive as a link instead of a bare code. Either form works the same way.

Expect a crowd in the Discord. It had about 15,460 members on October 10, 2026, which is roughly five days of signups at the 3,000-a-day rate the developer quoted. Far more people will be asking for codes there than giving them away.

Where Do Existing Users Find Their Clank World Invite Codes?

Clank World has not said where existing users find invite codes, as of October 10, 2026.

The announcement says codes come from existing users, but it does not say where they sit in the app or how many each account gets.

If you have an account and a friend asks for a code, watch the Discord announcements and your account settings over the next few days.

The site’s own error text shows that a code can be “used up,” so each one probably has a limited number of uses.

What Does the Clank World “Invalid or Used Up” Error Mean?

The Clank World “invalid or used up” error means the code does not match a live code, or it has already been redeemed as many times as it allows.

Letter case is not the problem, because the invite page converts whatever you type into capitals before checking it.

My first suspect is a dropped dash or a swapped letter and number, since the code box shows its sample format as “CLANKER-420.” After that, assume the code is spent and ask for a fresh one instead of retrying the same string.

Before: clanker 420 (a space where the dash should be)

After: CLANKER-420 (the exact characters you were sent, dash included)

CLANKER-420 is the placeholder printed in the code box, so typing it in will fail. Every message the invite screen can show maps to one of these causes:

What you seeWhat it meansWhat to do
“Clank World is invite-only. Enter your invite code.”Your sign-in reached Clank World without a valid codeSign in with the login you used before, or get a code
“Please enter your invite code”The code box is emptyPaste the code and tap Verify Code
“Invalid code. Please try again.”The check rejected the codeFix dashes and digits, then ask for a fresh code
“That invite code is invalid or used up.”Typo, or the code has no uses leftStop retrying it and get a different code
“An error occurred. Please try again.”The check itself failedWait a few minutes, since outages hit the whole site

Do Existing Clank World Users Need an Invite Code?

No. Existing Clank World accounts do not need an invite code, because the rule covers new accounts only.

On the invite page, tap “I already have an account” and sign in with the same Discord, Google or Apple login you used before.

I wouldn’t switch sign-in methods this week. A Google or Apple login that Clank World has never seen would count as a new account, and new accounts need a code.

Nothing else changes for current users. Free accounts still get throttled at busy times, and Clank Pass still costs $14.99 a month for priority chat, bigger memory and 750 Aura tokens a month (Aura is Clank World’s in-app currency).

The pass also unlocks Moments images, which the Clank World image guide covers in detail.

If you are new to the site and wondering what the fuss is about, our Clank World explainer covers the filter, the model and what the free tier feels like day to day.

Does the Clank World App Need an Invite Code Too?

Clank World has not said whether its iOS and Android apps enforce the same gate.

The developer’s wording was “all new accounts,” with no exception for the apps, so plan on needing a code wherever you sign up.

Should You Buy a Clank World Invite Code?

No. Buying a Clank World invite code is a gamble, because a code can be “used up” before you redeem it and nothing protects the money you paid.

The invite page offers no way to buy a code, so anyone charging for one is a stranger with no refund policy.

I don’t buy the idea that a paid code is a shortcut. Invite walls tend to grow a resale market, and Clubhouse codes sold at a premium on eBay and Chinese e-commerce sites during its invite-only days, as Android Police reported.

Never hand over your Discord, Google or Apple password in exchange for a code. A real invite is a short string of characters or a link to the invite page, and nobody needs your login to send one.

How Long Will Clank World Stay Invite-Only?

Clank World has given no end date for the invite-only rule.

The developer framed it as a way to “grow at our own pace,” which sounds open-ended rather than like a one-week pause.

The developer has pulled this lever before. In February, when new free-tier limits upset a lot of users, the developer wrote “we’ve grown so fast i had to put on the brakes” in a subreddit reply. The same reply called a daily message allowance “a bit psychologically disruptive,” so rationing new accounts fits that stance better than rationing messages would.

Clank World has also run an invite wall before. During the public beta, replies to the beta launch from February and March 2026 describe a screen saying sign-ups were “invite only” in their region.

I don’t expect a quick reversal, because the bottleneck is GPUs, and new capacity takes time to buy and switch on. Other invite walls have lasted anywhere from a few weeks to more than a year:

ClubhouseMarch 2020 launchJuly 21, 2021Invitation-only initial rollout

TechCrunch reported at launch that the Sora social platform was invite-only and rolling out in the U.S. and Canada first.

OpenAI then posted on X on October 29, 2025 that people in the US, Canada, Japan and Korea could get in without a code for a limited time, less than a month after launch.

That made Sora’s hard wall a matter of weeks. Our Sora app launch coverage has what the app offered while it lasted.

What Can You Use While You Wait for a Clank World Invite?

Candy AI and Nectar AI are the two open-sign-up apps I point locked-out readers to first, for different reasons.

Neither beats Clank World on price, since basic Clank World chat costs nothing.

Candy AI is the easy one to start on today, with no code and no queue. Premium lists unlimited text messages and 100 tokens a month for extras like voice messages, at $13.99 a month after a $9.99 first month. The five-message free tier is only a preview, so Candy makes sense once you are ready to pay.

Nectar AI is my pick if you came to Clank World for anime-style characters. It also takes new sign-ups today, so you can keep a roleplay going while your code hunt plays out.

If you would rather not make an account anywhere, chat apps that skip sign-up covers the options that let you start without one. None of them match Clank World’s free tier, so a code is still worth chasing if that tier is what you came for.

Quick Takeaways

  • Clank World has required an invite code for every new account since October 10, 2026, because 3,000 signups a day outran its GPUs.
  • Existing accounts sign in as normal through “I already have an account” with the same Discord, Google or Apple login.
  • Codes come from existing users or the official Discord, and “invalid or used up” means a typo or a spent code.
  • Never pay for a code or hand over a password, since the invite page sells nothing and a bought code may already be spent.
  • If you cannot wait, Candy AI and Nectar AI take new sign-ups today.
